Robots that imitate human motions and sensitiveness are the special competence area of FerRobitics. ROMO, the first physically compliant robot ever, has opened the door to new dimensions in automation. Unlike traditional robots ROMO possesses the unique abilities to adapt the applied force to the actual job flow and to integrate eventually occurring counter forces. This literally makes ROMO pressure sensitive and contact sensitive.Due to ROMOs outstanding and unique characteristics it could be considered to employ a downsized version shoulder-to-shoulder with human collegues. The patented new FerRobotics technologies unite flexibility, robustness and most of all safety in a mechatronic high-tech product with a straight forward concept of easy handling.
Technology Future has started already
The product innovations of the FerRobotics Compliant Robot Technology GmbH have been possible through a unique technology invention. While traditional robots are based on electric motors, ROMO uses pneumatically driven muscles and thus establishes up to seven degrees of freedom, providing humanlike agility and flexibility. These pneumatic muscles are made of special high-tech materials and move on a complex concept. Basically the inner pressure of the muscle either causes contraction or release. This bionic concept, copied from human muscles, allows the robot to move its arm actually like a human.
